The Truth

The truth of the matter is no matter how hard you try -- or don't try -- things come up when you have kids.  DH (and you) have a frustrating time trying to rekindle the fire and both are generally left as sexually frustrated as teenagers.

Such is life.

We put aside our needs as individuals to satisfy the needs our children have for us as parents.  I think the fifty shades of reality shows the truth.  My DS has taken to sleeping in DH and my bed so our sex life is virtually nonexistent.  I know co-sleeping is a big issue, our family found it was the only way for my DS to cope with having a father who is only around two days a week because of the out of state work situation.  It's not ideal, but it's working -- sorta -- for our family.

We do what we need to as parents to make sure our children feel safe and secure, the question is when do we toss them out of their safety zone and make them stand on their own?

Biting My Nails

I'm sitting at home with a two-and-half year old son who is running a fever, biting my nails while my husband is forced to work in another state and only able to come home on weekends.  I'm biting my nails over the presidential election in hopes that something may change.  As the saying goes "Something's gotta give"  -- eventually there have to be more jobs created... more jobs closer to home.

Right now, we are struggling.  We are fighting for a chance to have a "normal" family life.  Fighting for the right as American citizens who pay taxes to live near our families with a job that can support us.

A couple of years ago my DH was out of work and we were forced to seek public assistance only to find the doors were closed to us because we were doing all we could (selling off our retirement funds) to keep our home.  Now is the time for real change. Now is the time for the economy to turn around.

Change can be good

Right now I am sitting here watching my son sleep and contemplating what the future will bring.  Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much.  With the election going on today I can't stop thinking how will the results impact him 20 years from now...  how will it impact our lives, the economy, the social policies.  Presidents don't just lead for four years, they leave a legacy for many generations to come.

In his mind, the biggest worry at two-years-old is what he wants to eat for lunch or which toy he wants to play with.  If only life would continue to be that simple for him for the rest of his journey.

As parents we have the responsibility to care for our children, to love them unconditionally, to raise them to be an asset to the world.  So many children are left behind so as society we need to bring them up.

As today is election day in the United States, please please please take the time out to vote.  Vote for whomever you believe can make a difference in the lives of Americans.  Vote for who you are passionate about.  Vote for who you feel can make America strong.

My vote has been cast for the person I feel I can trust my child's future with.  We have one chance, one opportunity to do not only our civic duty but also our personal duty.  Vote your conscience.
